C-Track for Crane
Description:
C‑shaped steel (C‑track / C‑rail) is a cold‑formed open channel profile widely adopted in overhead travelling cranes (bridge cranes), gantry cranes and hoists. Its core application on bridge cranes is serving as the guide rail of the cable festoon system for mobile power and control signal transmission.
Mounted parallel to the crane main girder or trolley cross beam, the C‑track accommodates rolling cable trolleys inside the channel. Flexible power and control cables are fixed on these trolleys and form natural slack loops. When the hoist trolley travels back and forth, the towing trolley pulls the whole set of trolleys to slide along the C‑track synchronously. This structure keeps cables orderly, avoids cable twisting, dragging, hanging and abrasion, and continuously supplies power to the moving hoist and trolley.
Besides the festoon track, C‑shaped steel can also be used as secondary structural supports, cable brackets and guard frames for crane electrical cabinets.

Material:
-
Base material: Cold‑rolled low‑carbon steel Q195 / Q235
-
Standard surface treatment: Hot‑dip galvanized or electro‑galvanized, zinc coating 120–275 g/m² for anti‑corrosion
-
Optional grade: 304 stainless steel for humid, coastal or chemical workshop environments; nylon coating available for heavy corrosion conditions
-
Forming process: Continuous cold bending, deburred cutting ends for smooth joint connection

Main Types & Details:
Common standard models: C32 (32×30×1.5 mm), C40 (40×40×2.0 mm), C63 (63×63×4.0 mm)
-
Standard single length: 4 m / 6 m; custom cut‑to‑length available
-
Permitted maximum travel speed of cable trolleys: ≤120 m/min
-
Operating temperature range: −40 ℃ ~ +125 ℃
-
Minimum bending radius for curved track: R ≥ 1.0 m (mainly C32)
-
Cable load capacity: Depends on track size and hanger spacing; C32 for light & medium cable bundles, C63 for heavy‑duty multi‑cable festoon
-
Max unsupported span between hangers: 1.5–3 m (subject to profile and cable load)
-
Matching accessories: Joint connectors, suspension hangers, towing trolleys, intermediate trolleys, end limit stops, cable saddles

Advantages for Bridge Crane Festoon Power Supply:
-
High running stability & anti‑derailment: The enclosed C‑shaped cavity restrains trolley wheels laterally; trolleys run inside the channel and hardly jump off the rail, far more stable than I‑beam festoon rails for medium‑speed trolley travel.
-
Cable protection & longer service life: Cables are suspended on trolleys rather than dragging on steel structures; less friction, twisting and fatigue breakage.
-
Compact layout: Small occupied space, easy to install under or beside the crane girder, suitable for bridge cranes with limited clearance.
-
Easy installation and maintenance: Standard modular connection, quick splicing and alignment; damaged trolleys or cables can be replaced without removing the whole rail.
-
Good corrosion resistance: Galvanized finish fits most indoor factory workshops; stainless steel option satisfies outdoor and harsh corrosive sites.
-
Cost‑effective: Light self‑weight compared with solid structural steel; lower overall investment than rigid busbar systems for short‑to‑medium travel distance bridge cranes.
-
Flexible expansion: Compatible with round cables, flat flexible cables and pneumatic hoses; can be straight or curved for special runway layouts.

Notes:
C‑track festoon power supply is generally preferred for travel length within 100 m. For extra long‑span bridge cranes, rigid safety conductor busbars are often selected as an alternative power solution.
